There are so many ways to tell a story
With my artwork, I approach each painting as a means to create visual narratives that capture a sense of place and embed personal memories.
In my writing, I strive to find the people and stories behind the artists and makers, the places and architecture, and the cultural organizations in my community.
There is always something just below the surface, something bigger to find, something more to tell. My background in traditional studio arts (BFA, Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University) historic preservation, (MSHP, Art Institute of Chicago) and arts journalism, (MA, S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University) has helped me hone how I tell these stories.
I am a practicing artist, Director of Marketing for the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, co-host of the podcast “Bad Architecture,” board member of the Preservation Association of Central New York, and have written for local and regional publications.
